2.2. Use Harmonic DJ in a DAW

Add Harmonic DJ as an effect on a stereo audio track. The plug-in passes the host track through while its preview player is idle. Opening the editor connects it to the Library owned by the installed Harmonic DJ application; scanning or restoring a project without opening the editor does not need to show the application.

Each plug-in instance owns an independent Mix saved inside the DAW project. Closing and reopening the editor keeps that Mix alive, and reopening the DAW project restores its current revision. A plug-in Mix is not a live reference to whichever named Mix is open in the standalone application. Several instances can use the same shared Library while keeping their Mixes independent.

Library management remains in the application. Use Manage in App when you need to add, remove, rescan, or organize tracks. Library changes then become visible to connected plug-ins. If the application stops while a plug-in is open, the plug-in reconnects after the application returns. A version-mismatch message means the application and plug-ins came from different releases; update or reinstall the complete Harmonic DJ package together.

Preview plays through the plug-in’s host output. Local tracks can be dragged from Harmonic DJ into a host arrangement. AUv3 performs that operation through its sandbox-safe file path, but the visible workflow is the same.

When Host BPM is enabled and the host supplies tempo, Harmonic DJ uses that value for Mix planning and audition rate in the current instance. It falls back to the Mix BPM when host tempo is unavailable. Host BPM does not add a beat grid, quantized start, downbeat detection, phrase alignment, or time stretching.
